March For Meals Thank You

We are so appreciative of the support in all of our community’s and we appreciate our hometown leaders making the time and effort to meet our recipients and volunteers by experiencing a meal preparation, preparing special gifts, or even delivering meals.

THANK YOU TO ALL OF OUR AMAZING VOLUNTEERS AND OUR WONDERFUL RECIPIENTS WHO GRACIOUSLY WELCOMED THEM!

March for Meals is a month-long, community-by-community celebration of Meals on Wheels and the vulnerable seniors and homebound who rely on the vital service to remain independent at home. The Meals on Wheels Foundation of Northern Illinois celebrated March for Meals with our dedicated volunteers and our local town and township officials.

The annual March for Meals commemorates the historic day in March 1972 when President Nixon signed into law a measure that amended the Older Americans Act of 1965 and established a national nutrition program for seniors 60 years and older. Since 2002, Meals on Wheels programs from across the country have joined forces for the annual awareness campaign to celebrate this successful public-private partnership and garner the support needed to fill the gap between the seniors served and those still in need.
