Everybody’s Birthday Celebration is the first Friday of each month. We celebrate the holidays together with special parties and treats for Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, the Fourth of July, and more throughout the year.Activities and Games:
We offer blood pressure screenings the second Tuesday of the month and third Friday of the month at 10:00 a.m. with our partner Senior Service Associates, as well as special events featuring online safety and avoiding scams. We play bingo every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday at noon. Bingo cards are ten cents each, with a maximum of six cards per person. We play 500 Rummy and bridge each Tuesday at 9:00 a.m., euchre each Wednesday at 9:00 a.m., cribbage each Thursday at 9:00 a.m., and pinochle each Friday at noon.
The “Fit and Strong” exercise classes are offered on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday at 9:00 a.m.
We have a great group of friendly people who are looking for socialization at the cafes and during the activities and games. Everyone is welcome to participate as much or as little as you are comfortable with.
At the Beecher Center cafe three days a week, chef extraordinaire Grandma Karin draws on a lifetime of experience to prepare savory and delicious Midwestern comfort food such as hamburger pie with green beans and mashed potatoes, or a bratwurst burger with German potato salad and three-bean salad. At the Oswegoland Senior and Community Center monthly luncheon, classic favorites from Upper Crust Catering include traditional specialities such as pot roast cooked with carrots and potatoes. There’s always coffee and a sweet dessert, too, when our Kendall County director Louise Maritato is in charge!
More About Our Program
Nutritional health is an important factor for remaining independent as we age. Meals on Wheels provides in-home delivery of hot meals five days a week. With support for good nutrition and healthy living, many older adults in our area are able to live safely and independently in their own homes.
How much do the meals cost?
There is no cost to participants. We do ask all participants for a voluntary contribution. No one is ever denied service if they are unable or unwilling to contribute.
